Birthdate: August 4, 1816, Saint Urbain, Diocese of  Quimper, Quimper, France; Seminary of Saint Sulpice, Paris.

Ordination to the Priesthood: July 13, 1840, Paris, by Bishop Rosati, C.M., of St. Louis.  Engaged in pastoral work in the Diocese of Cincinnati, 1840-1847, and in the Diocese of Cleveland, 1847-1853.

Ordination to the Episcopacy: Elevated to the episcopacy by Pope Pius IX to the newly erected See of Burlington, July 29, 1853.  Consecrated, October 30, 1853, New York, by Archbishop Bedini, papal Nuncio to Brazil and special papal Envoy to the United States, assisted by Bishop Fitzpatrick, of Boston, and Bishop Rappe, of Cleveland.
Death: Died at 83, November 3, 1899; buried, Resurrection Park, South Burlington, Vermont.  Years of episcopacy: 46 years, 3 months and 5 days as Bishop of Burlington.
